Soon after meeting, Aaron and Claire dreamed of launching a small, design-based business. A love of mid-century modern paired with a shared interest in living a more sustainable lifestyle, the couple decided to create their home living collection.

Stars quickly aligned for the new venture when Aaron’s grandfather offered them his dilapidated century old barn as a material resource.

M.F.E.O. was born, a joint effort to handcraft sustainably sourced materials into timeless pieces for the home. The family barn is still featured in many of M.F.E.O.'s designs.

Aaron learned the value of hand-craftsmanship at an early age. Growing up on the family farm in Oregon imparted a resilient work ethic while century old barns and rusty farm machinery formed his appreciation for utilitarian design.

The husband and wife duo currently resides in Los Angeles, California where the outdoor lifestyle and Mid-Century modern influences continue to inspire the M.F.E.O. collection.

Claire moved from her hometown in Michigan to Los Angeles in pursuit of big dreams and Technicolor sunsets. After several years working in digital media, she could no longer ignore the growing desire to express her creative side.

A variety of handcrafting courses led Claire to her preferred medium of choice, metal, which is currently inspired by font treatments and symmetry.
